I'm consistently on top of my dA messages! WOOOO. That means if you send me a note, comment, valentine, confession of your unending adoration, play a cruel joke on me, etc - I'll see it and be able to respond appropriately. It only took me five years, but we can't all be
perfect message center gurus now can we!
I've made a couple of decisions about how my life is gonna go. Most importantly, have become resolute in the notion "I have no idea what I'm doing" but I'm generally ambling in the direction of freelance illustration. Which makes every platform I can get a hold of (dA,
carbonmade, facebook, tumblr) pretty valuable! So here we are.
Another thing I am more aggressively ambling towards is conventions! Twice now my sis and I have done Artist's Alley at Animazement in Raleigh, NC, and it was a ton of fun. So much, my mom actually mentioned the desire to quit her 9-to-5 in order to be able to travel cross-country with us and do more conventions! I think that would be pretty fantastic, but I have to admit I'm out of the loop in terms of what conventions are big deals and which aren't worth the drive.
So here's my question for you: What's your favorite convention? Anime or otherwise. I'm interested in comic conventions, and fantasy/sci fi ones too, but I'm a little nervous about jumping headlong into one of those when I've never visited one before.
Also, any merchandise ideas? Shows I should be making fan art of? Trending animes I should be aware of?
I'm looking for conventions within a couple states of me (I live in Raleigh, NC) to start showing. I still want to know about conventions farther away, but I probably won't be able to attend until this whole convention business starts getting lucrative enough to support travel costs.

Oh, another thing: I recently started helping out with #
1-hr-contest as a mod! I adore the idea, it's a ton of fun. :'D There's a brand new contest starting today, head on over and check it out if you can!
